1. Is the thermostat set at the proper temperature?
Be sure you have set your thermostat to the temperature you want the room to maintain.
2. Is the thermostat in the proper mode desired(Heating or Cooling)
Most thermostats have the ability to either control your heating or cooling with some type of switch either on the side, top or bottom of the thermostat. Make sure it is set in the proper mode you want to run. If it is a newer electronic thermostat they refer to it as a system switch.
3. Has the filter been changed or checked recently?
Air conditioners and heaters must have the proper air flow to continue to operate. If your unit seems to be running but you have no air flow at the registers check your filter for cleanliness.
4. Are the doors on the furnace or air conditioner unit properly closed?
If for some reason the doors(covers) of the furnace have become loose the safety switch in the furnace will not let the unit come on.
